Description:
Disk Rejuvenator is designed to be a simple utility for putting some life back into your disk. It does so by examining some common attributes of your disk and correcting those that are in need of correction. (see technical note below for more details)
Disk Rejuvenator requires System 6.0.4 or later, and System 7 users additionally can enjoy an easy “drag and drop” interface.
Disk Rejuvenator is 32-bit clean, ‘040 cache and virtual memory compatible and even Apple event aware.
Using Disk Rejuvenator:
System 7 users can have their disks rejuvenated by dragging the icons of the disk you wished rejuvenated onto the Disk Rejuvenator icon.
1. Select the icons of the disks to be rejuvenated.
2. Drag them over the Disk Rejuvenator icon until it highlights.
3. Let go of the mouse/trackball button.
Disk Rejuvenator will open and proceed to rejuvenate your disk.
When it is completed, Disk Rejuvenator automatically quits. It is recommended that you restart your Macintosh for the rejuvenation to be complete.
System 6 users, or those who prefer a direct way to rejuvenate their disks, should:
1. Double click on the Disk Rejuvenator icon.
2. Click the “Drive” button until the disk's name and icon appear at the top of the window.
3. Click the “Select” button.
When it is completed, Disk Rejuvenator will display an message letting you know that the process is complete. Click “OK”.
It is recommended that you restart your Macintosh for the rejuvenation to be complete.
Special Features:
* Scripters can control Disk Rejuvenator from other applications. For example, with HyperCard use the “open <document> using "Disk Rejuvenator"” command. With Frontier, use a “required.OpenDocument('ADFx', document)”.
Technical Note:
Disk Rejuvenator was written to address the problem experienced by some of our users where their hard disks would become inaccessible from the standard “Open” dialogs, or their custom icons would disappear. This was caused by the FinderInfo for the root of the disk getting corrupted.
In order to restore this to a “correct” state, Disk Rejuvenator queries the disk for its FinderInfo (via PBGetCatInfo), adjusts the state of some of the fields by looking for the presence of customIcon files (and such) and then writes back out a more correct set of flags (via PBSetCatInfo). It will also change the modification date for the disk to the current date & time in order to get the Finder to update itself.
However, the Finder keeps a nice little cache of information about mounted disks and so it is neccessary to restart the Mac for the changes to really take place.

The parties further submit to waive any objections to personal jurisdiction of and venue in any of the following forums: U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, California Superior Court for Santa Cruz County, Santa Cruz County Municipal Court or any other forum in Santa Cruz County, for any litigation arising out of this agreement.
U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS
This Software is provided with RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the government is subject to restrictions set forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause at 48 CFR 252.227-7013, or in subparagraphs (a) through (d) of the Commercial Computer Software Restricted Rights clause at 48 CFR 52.227-19, as applicable.
